Currency Forecast
EUR/USD : ? ?The euro edged lower on Friday as investors assessed the potential economic and market implications of the Democrats' victory in the US midterm elections. Concerns over tighter regulatory scrutiny of the technology sector have clouded the outlook for AI investment and data centre expansion, although analysts believe existing orders are unlikely to be affected in the near term.Meanwhile, expectations have increased that the election outcome could accelerate efforts to end the Iran conflict, easing geopolitical risks and energy market uncertainty. Investors are alsassessing the possibility of greater fiscal restraint in the US and reduced support for policies targeting sectors such as European banks and clean energy, adding to uncertainty across global markets. Immediate resistance can be seen at 1.1242 (Daily high), an upside break can trigger rise towards 1.1291(38.2%fib).On the downside, immediate support is seen at 1.1118(23.6%fib), a break below could take the pair towards 1.1102(Lower BB).
GBP/USD: The pound weakened against the dollar on Friday as a global stock market selloff weighed on currencies sensitive to global growth, while sterling remained broadly steady against the euro near a 19-month high.Technology stocks tumbled on Wall Street on Thursday before extending losses across Asian markets on Friday and spreading to European equities, boosting demand for the US dollar. The Bank of England's policy decision remained the week's main domestic focus. The central bank raised interest rates on Thursday and signalled that at least one further increase could be necessary unless tensions in the Gulf ease and oil prices decline sharply.Sterling was last trading at $1.3399, down 0.4% on the day, although it remained broadly flat for the week after earlier gains. Immediate resistance can be seen at 1.3466(38.2%fib), an upside break can trigger rise towards 1.3514(Higher BB).On the downside, immediate support is seen at 1.3397(50%fib), a break below could take the pair towards1.3341 (61.8%fib).
AUD/USD: The Australian dollar dipped on Friday as investors reduced exposure to risk-sensitive assets ahead of a potentially volatile end to the trading week.Growing concerns over a deeper selloff in technology stocks, particularly amid fears of tighter artificial intelligence (AI) regulations and uncertainty surrounding future AI investment, have weighed on global market sentiment and undermined demand for the Australian dollar. Meanwhile, Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) Deputy Governor Andrew Hauser cautioned that public confidence in the central bank's ability to bring inflation under control is at risk. His remarks underscore the difficult balance facing policymakers as persistent inflationary pressures complicate the economic outlook.Markets are now increasingly pricing in an extended pause, with the RBA expected to keep its cash rate unchanged at least until its June 22, 2027 monetary policy meeting.Immediate resistance can be seen at 0.7045(Higher BB), an upside break can trigger rise towards 0.7058(50%fib).On the downside, immediate support is seen at 0.6986 (38.2% fib), a break below could take the pair towards 0.6977(Lower BB)
USD /JPY : The U.S. dollar edged higher against yen on Friday as investors positioned ahead of a closely watched US payrolls report. The US employment report is expected to show unemployment steady at 4.2% in October, although it could ease to 4.1%. Historically low layoffs and rising job openings point to a potentially tightening labour market.US nonfarm payrolls are forecast to rise by 65,000 in October, following a 29,000 increase in September, which was partly constrained by a late Labor Day holiday. Economists' estimates range from 35,000 to 125,000 jobs.Traders currently see a 68% chance that the Fed will raise rates in December, down from the near certainty expected last month, according to CME's FedWatch tool. Immediate resistance can be seen at 159.00(Psychological level), an upside break can trigger rise towards 159.48(Higher BB).On the downside, immediate support is seen at 157.95(SMA 20) a break below could take the pair towards 157.35(Daily low).
