Currency Forecast

EUR/USD : ? ?The euro edged higher against the U.S. dollar on Monday as investors braced for a packed week dominated by the US midterm elections and central bank rate decisions in Britain, Australia, Norway and Sweden. Attention is now shifting to the November 3 US midterm elections to ?assess the potential ?impact on fiscal policy, ?geopolitics and broader market sentiment. Traders were also watching developments in the Middle East, as growing hopes for a diplomatic resolution to the US-Iran conflict sent Brent crude futures down 3.9% on the day. Immediate resistance can be seen at 1.1236 (Daily high), an upside break can trigger rise towards 1.1248(38.2%fib).On the downside, immediate support is seen at 1.1130(Lower BB), a break below could take the pair towards 1.1105(23.6%fib).

GBP/USD: The pound edged higher against the U.S. dollar on Monday as investor attention shifted from last week's UK budget to an expected Bank of England rate hike on Thursday, the central bank's first since August 2023.While other major central banks like the European Central Bank and Federal Reserve have already hiked interest rates this year to combat inflationary pressures from the Iran war-driven energy price spike, the BoE so far has followed a wait-and-see approach. This week's central bank action comes after British finance minister John Healey delivered his first budget last week. Healey's spending plans did not provide any surprises, and markets took his plans in their stride with neither the pound nor gilts reacting strongly.Immediate resistance can be seen at 1.3420(Daily high), an upside break can trigger rise towards 1.34209(Oct 22nd high). On the downside, immediate support is seen at 1.3292(38.2%fib), a break below could take the pair towards1.3282 (Lower BB).

AUD/USD: The Australian dollar edged lower on Monday as investors positioned for a possible fifth interest rate hike by the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) on Tuesday. The central bank is widely expected to raise interest rates by 25 basis points to 4.85%, the highest level in 18 years, as policymakers intensify efforts to curb persistent inflation. Most economists anticipate the increase, while money markets are pricing in an approximately 80% probability of a hike. The RBA’s decision is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. local time and will be accompanied by updated economic projections. Governor Michele Bullock is set to hold a press conference an hour later, with investors closely watching for guidance on the future policy outlook. On the data front, Australia’s Melbourne Institute Monthly Inflation Gauge rose 0.5% month-on-month in October, accelerating from 0.3% in September and marking its fourth consecutive monthly increase, reinforcing concerns over persistent price pressures.Immediate resistance can be seen at 0.7045(Higher BB), an upside break can trigger rise towards 0.7058(50%fib).On the downside, immediate support is seen at 0.6986 (38.2% fib), a break below could take the pair towards 0.6977(Lower BB)

USD /JPY : The U.S. dollar edged higher on Monday as the Japanese yen came under selling pressure despite renewed verbal warnings from Tokyo over excessive currency movements. Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama said authorities remained prepared to intervene if market movements became excessive or disorderly, reiterating that any action would be consistent with Japan’s existing coordination framework with Washington.Katayama also noted that U.S. President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi shared concerns over the yen’s weakness, highlighting discussions between the two leaders during their September summit. She added that Japan would continue adhering to its established currency and financial market coordination framework with the United States when asked about the upcoming U.S. elections. Immediate resistance can be seen at 158.00(Psychological level), an upside break can trigger rise towards 158.48(50%fib).On the downside, immediate support is seen at  157.05(Lower BB) a break below could take the pair towards 156.53(61.8%fib).
