EUR/USD : ?The euro edged lower against the U.S. dollar on Tuesday as investors remained cautious ahead of key central bank policy decisions this week that could shape the global interest rate outlook.Four major central banks are scheduled to announce monetary policy decisions this week. The Bank of Japan’s meeting follows the Federal Reserve’s decision, with U.S. policymakers widely expected to leave interest rates unchanged when their two-day meeting concludes on Wednesday. The European Central Bank is also expected to keep its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 2.50% on Thursday. The euro was on track to be the weakest-performing developed-market currency against the dollar in October, having fallen 1.70% amid elevated energy costs, volatility in French government bonds and growing concerns over France’s fiscal position. Immediate resistance can be seen at 1.1178(Daily high), an upside break can trigger rise towards 1.1222(38.2%fib).On the downside, immediate support is seen at 1.1116(23.6%fib), a break below could take the pair towards 1.1098 (Lower BB).

GBP/USD: The pound edged lower against major currencies on Tuesday as investors remained cautious ahead of the UK government’s budget announcement on Wednesday.Finance Minister John Healey is set to deliver his first budget amid rising global borrowing costs and elevated energy prices linked to the Iran war. Investors will closely assess the government’s fiscal measures and borrowing plans for the coming year to gauge its commitment to maintaining fiscal discipline.UK budget announcements have become a major focus for financial markets, particularly since 2022, when the government’s unfunded tax-cut plans triggered turmoil in the bond market. Healey faces the challenge of meeting the government’s fiscal targets while seeking to avoid increases in major taxes. Immediate resistance can be seen at 1.3403(38.2%fib), an upside break can trigger rise towards 1.34209(Oct 22nd high). On the downside, immediate support is seen at 1.3302(38.2%fib), a break below could take the pair towards1.3282 (Lower BB).

Investors are also assessing the outlook for further monetary tightening ahead of the Federal Reserve’s policy decision on Wednesday.Oil prices declined as traders monitored Middle East peace talks, with lower crude prices putting pressure on the Canadian dollar, given Canada’s role as a major oil exporter. US crude futures settled 1.8% lower at $99.90 a barrel.Markets are pricing in roughly a 75% probability that the Bank of Canada will raise its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to 2.50% on Wednesday.
