GBP/USD: The pound slipped lower   on Wednesday   as rising oil prices and surging bond yields kept investors cautious.Oil prices rose, with Brent futures ?holding above $100 a barrel, as investors weighed higher Gulf exports ?against persistent supply risks from the Middle East conflict and a ?storm approaching US oil-producing regions.Investors also awaited minutes from the Federal Reserve's latest meeting for further clues on the ‌outlook ?for US monetary policy and the timing of any future interest-rate cuts.British ?house ?prices were flat in September after recording their first ?annual decline since 2023 in August, according to Lloyds data, which came in weaker than analysts had ?expected. USD /JPY : The U.S. dollar edged higher against the yen on Wednesday  as dollar firmed ahead of  Federal Reserve minutes. BOJ Policy Board member Sato has adopted a more hawkish stance, saying he now supports rate hikes. Sato previously dissented at the latest BOJ meeting in favour of keeping rates unchanged, alongside fellow newcomer Asada.BOJ policymaker Ayano Sato supports raising interest rates in several stages, Kyodo reported Wednesday, suggesting even dovish board members recognise the need to address inflation risks.Sato, appointed by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, was one of two dissenters against the BOJ’s September rate increase after joining the nine-member board in June. After spending ?years treading cautiously in policy normalisation, the BOJ picked up pace in raising rates by hiking in June and September as the Iran war-induced energy shock added to price pressures ?from rising import costs via a weak yen.
